What home means to me

When I think of a home I don’t think of a house, a house is just a structure that is made up of a bunch of material, but a home is the emotion, love and happiness that is put inside a house by the family that lives in it. Home is a place where you feel safe and where you are loved by all the people that live inside the house with you. Home is a place where you can feel comfortable to be yourself without thinking of what others will think about you. Home is a place where you can have conversations that you’ve needed to get off your chest for a while, and you won’t feel embarrassed telling your family because you know that they won’t tell anyone what you say to them. Home is a place where you can enjoy food and drinks and feel full after the great meal you just had. A home to me is also a place where you spend bonding time the people around you having fun playing a game you all love to play or watching a movie. Home is a place filled with joy and laughter while sitting around the living room table with the people you love late at night. Although family is a big part of home, there is another part to a home and that is the community that surrounds the home. A community is all the people that live in your area that help each other feel happier and help each other get past our struggles. For instance, in a community there is a local food bank that the community donates food too for people in need of food. Another thing the community you live in has for you is a local school where you can learn in and get an education for a job in the future that you can earn money from doing work. Home means having a family doctor that you can visit if you are hurt or feeling sick. By writing this paragraph on the meaning of home I am helping habitat for humanity raise money to build houses for the homeless and I am honoured to be apart of a community that cares for the people without a home. That is what having a home means to me.
