Meaning of Home

When we come home from school after a long day, I smell the things mommy has baked and I am so happy to be home. A home is a place for families to bake. My mom, brother and I love to bake. We make everything from breads to treats. My brother and dad are celiac so they can’t eat regular flour. We can’t buy store bought cookies, cakes or muffins. We have to bake those things so we can eat them. I am in charge of the mixer, my brother likes to do the measuring and my mom does the rest. My favorite part of baking is to be able to lick the beater once we’re done. I also love icing and decorating cookies (but sometimes I sneak a few toppings). Sometimes my brother and I get a little crazy with the toppings…it is so fun. At Christmas time I look forward to the day my Nana comes over to make cookies. We make shortbread, chocolate covered pretzels, and my favorite sugar cookies. I love being with my family and I think that’s why I like baking so much. We always are together when we bake. For me, home is a place to enjoy laughs, love and family. When we are all baking together, everyone is happy.
