My Family is My Home

Home is where I am happy, heard, with family, not judged. Home is where I am loved If I’m having a bad day, I think of home. The sound of crackling as I roast a marshmallow over the fire. My family, right beside me, laughing as my sister tells a joke. The smell of chicken cooking in the oven as I prepare dinner with my family. Mixing the spices and frying the vegetables. Dicing the onions and adding them to the soup. Playing board games and laughing together. Working with each other to make a strategy. Acting out a scene with your partner. Getting across the board first and having fun. Sipping hot chocolate after playing outside in the snow. Right next to the fireplace, on a seat covered in warm blankets. Tiny marshmallows mixed in with the hot coco. Getting warmed up after being frozen in the snow. My dog, sleeping on the rug. My family makes me happy. And my family doesn't judge me. My family listens when I am speaking. My family makes me feel loved. My family makes me feel like I am needed and my family makes me feel like I belong. My family makes me feel at home.
