Home

The breaking dawn through my blinds warms my face this morning. I ponder my surroundings. Home. Every waking morning it greets me like a warm hug. As I walk down the stairs, I hear the sound or clanking of dishes, plates and coffee mugs. I belong here. It is a tranquil morning. I eat the same breakfast every morning, waffles with peanut butter. It might not sound delicious but it's like a firecracker being launched in your mouth. Bounding toward me comes my dog, blazing through the halls like a cannonball out of a cannon. I'm then drenched from head to toe in kisses from my dog as if a monsoon had come. My mom is making homemade Alphagetti. The warm smell fills my senses. As I walk to my bus, I notice the familiar sights and sounds of the neighborhood. When I get to school, all my friends start telling me all the things they did that weekend. This is home to me.
