What Home Is to Me

Home means a lot of things to me. Home is a sight of having no neighbours, so I can do whatever I want. Home is a sight of my family around our campfire roasting hot dogs on the grill. Home is the smell of fresh, steaming, homemade chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven. It’s equally the smell of freshly mowed grass in the boiling summer sun. Home is the sound of my animals. When my horses neigh or my cows moo that is what I hear when I'm home. It is also the sound of my parent's wedding song called: When You Say Nothing at All by Alison Krauss. It reminds me of them. When I think of my parents, I think of home. Home is the taste of my mom's delicious homemade lasagna. Three layers of cheese all melted and gooey. That reminds me of home. Home is also the taste of my favourite dinner: Succulent scallops wrapped with bacon, crispy green beans, and sweet garlic butter on a delicious t-bone steak. Home is the touch of my animals. When I feel my bird's fluffy feathers or my dog's long hair, I know I'm home. It is as well when I am skating on my bumpy pond in the middle of my hay field, I know that I am home. Home is the place where I am safe from all of the things I don't like or that scares me. I am so thankful to have a home where all my memories are stored. I get a roof over my head, a comfortable bed, and a family that loves me. I feel so bad for all of those people who don’t have a home where they can share their memories. If I could, I would try to help them.
