Home to me

Home is drinking Laboom tea under a teepee. Home is the warmth and comfort of sitting under a leaning lean-to. Home is sleeping in a Kuili with a belly full of bannock. Home is riding dusty dirt bikes with my cousins. Home is putting on my parka in an icy igloo. Home is waking up under a wooden wigwam. Home should not be waking up without a home with no hope. Home should not be sitting in tears looking at all the little crosses in the field. Home should not be kids crying with nothing to do but to remain quiet and wait for the stew. Home should not be Mushum and Kookum telling you in tears why there are crosses in the field. Home is hunting in harmony with my Mushum. Home is sitting with my Mushum, my Kookum, Nisikos and Nisis waiting for the beat of the drum. Home is putting on my regalia and getting ready to dance. Home is laying on the land and looking at the northern lights. Home is waiting for winter's warm Chinokes. Home is racing our horses in the fields. Home is taking care of the cattle. Home is uncle teaching me how to drum.
