The meaning of home

Home can mean many things but to me home doesn’t just mean a roof and four walls. Home means a place where I feel comfort, love and safety, a place where I’m with my family. the comfort, safety and love that I feel in my home is more than you think. I feel like I’m home when I walk through the door and I have a feeling of comfort when my mom hugs me when I come home. But comfort isn’t just the hug you get when you walk into the house. It’s also helping each other, doing fun things together and knowing that you are loved. What makes my apartment feel like home is not the objects in the apartment. Even if my sofa or bed makes my apartment comfortable, it is my family that makes the place truly home. It doesn’t matter how big or small my home is where I am safe and a place I am loved, a place where I can be myself without being judged. Home is not a place, it’s a feeling. What I love most about my home is the people I share it with. Home is a place where you grow up in, home is where I was raised, it is the people who wait for me to get home. Home is where I played, laughed, cried, and learned. My home is where I made my memories. I hope that one day, everyone will have a home to experience the things that I think home means. I am thankful to Habitat for Humanity for giving me a chance to write about what I believe home means to me.
