What Home Means to Me
Home is where everything started. Home is where I took my first steps, where I learned how to talk. It’s where I built relationships with my family. It's a place where I grew up. Home is the only place where I feel safe because I have built so many memories there that I can’t seem to feel comfortable anywhere else. It is where I can always belong. Home is the place where I’ve come back to every night, no matter what crazy things happened in the day. After bad test results, losing someone close to you, riding your first roller coaster, or after an exhausting trip to another country. Home is the place where you can always come back too.
There's nowhere else I want to be except home. The smiles of my sister when we tell jokes, the warmth and happiness I feel with my family as we gather around to play games, watch a movie, or even simply just talk. Growing up, you want to leave home, to go mess around and have fun, live your own life. But as you grow older, you see the hardships and realize how many responsibilities you have. As you grow older, you don’t want to be alone. You want to go back home. Because home is the only place that makes you feel safe, the only place that makes you feel happy.
Imagine not being able to go back to a place where you feel safe. Imagine not being able to feel warmth in a place, not being able to play around and be with your family in your OWN space. I feel so grateful to have a home and to enjoy our own place. Home is where comfort lies. Home is where you can cherish precious memories with your family. Home is somewhere where you can keep LOVE.
