Your Home Isn't Always Your House

Hello, my name is Kaylee and I will be telling you what home means to me. I would like to start off by saying thank you for helping people in need of somewhere they can call home. When I was born my family and I were living in a shelter. When I was 3 we moved out of the shelter and into a residential complex. Around when I was 7 we started getting harassed, so a little over a year ago my family and I moved into a place that I don't call my “house”, I call it my home. I would like to tell you some reasons I call my new house home. I feel that I can be me. I don't have to act “cool” or “calm” I can be myself. I feel safe and accepted, I don't feel like I'm going to be judged or called “dumb”. I don't feel scared. Finally, I have to say that I don't care about winning the contest, I care about helping people get a home that some people can't have. My home means everything to me and you're helping people have that opportunity that could mean everything to them. I might not know how it feels to be homeless but I do know that it hurts. To sum all this up, home means everything to me and to others around the world. Everyone should have a place to call home.
