The Meaning of Home

The Meaning Of Home By: Rowan To me, home is a place of reunion, a place where everyone can trust everyone. I don’t know the full history but I will tell you what I know. Sometime around 1954 my Great Grandpa and a few of his friends started building a nice house on some farmland about 25 minutes away from Erskine Alberta. They finished building the house sometime in 1955. A few years (or months) later my grandma was born, eventually my grandma inherited the farm when my great grandpa moved to Red Deer AB, My Dad, Auntie and Uncle were born there. They grew up on that farm and when they moved out they always stayed in the area. Sometime in the timeline the house had a living room expansion and an entry expansion so the house is a bit bigger now, and just recently my grandpa and grandma built a new deck because the old one was falling apart and unusable. Once me and my cousins and sister were playing cops and robbers and my big cousin ran across the old deck while being chased and there was a wasps nest under it and he got stung like 5 times in a row! Fast forward to now, my Dad lives in Black Fald’s AB, my Auntie lives on a farm with a nice house and three barns thirty seconds away from my grandma's farm and my uncle lives on my grandma’s farm in a house trailer. About two times a year (usually winter and summer breaks) me and my sister fly out to Alberta to visit the rest of the family. Every night we eat supper at my grandma’s home and play cards and Wii sports. It's really fun! In the winter my Uncle attaches toboggans behind one of my grandma's side by sides and we toboggan behind it. With my Uncle driving it can get quite dangerous, but really fun! One time I got my leg stuck under one of the toboggans and got dragged like 50 feet and we all started laughing. I was okay because of all the snow gear. In the summer we drive quads, side by side and oddly golf carts, we also play cops and robbers a lot, almost every day! I mostly hide in my grandma's cabin which gets really hot in the summer. To Me, Home Is Everything.
