Why Everyone Needs A Home

Imagine you are sitting in the backseat of your car. Your mom and dad are in the front. Your annoying little brother is next to you, bugging you and you’re feeling frustrated and anxious to get home. You see something out of the corner of your eye, you wonder what it is, you ask your parents to slow down so you can get a closer look. They do that exact thing without answering, you see that there is a red light, you manage to get a closer look, you see it’s a homeless man. Your eyes meet, he looks lonely yet scared and you feel lonely and scared. Should you look away? You start to wonder what it is like to be him. Does he have a family? Is he hungry? Did he ever have a home? So you eventually start to imagine what life being homeless is like. You start to wonder, straight from the start when you were a little baby, you wonder if your family would have a home. Or maybe they don’t, maybe you were sent off because your parents died, or maybe they lost their job and ran out of money. Where would you sleep at night? Would you go to school? What would happen if you were sick? How would you be able to get a good job if you couldn’t get a good education? The light turns green and you pull away. You realize in those 30 seconds of your life how lucky you are to be heading home. Home where it’s happy, safe, and warm. You wonder where he is heading. I believe that everyone deserves a home.
