What is a Home?

What is a home? A place with walls and a roof is your average answer. What if I told you there’s more to it? Take time to think about it, what makes “a home'' so much more than just “a house”? The answer to that question is your family. The cold cement foundation of your house is not what makes it feel like home. It's the jokes made at the dinner table while you sit and eat a warm meal with your family. The wooden frame of your house is not what makes it feel like home. It's those fun family movie nights with tasty popcorn. Your “home” is not defined by the structure itself, but the people around you, because it wouldn't feel like home without them. It breaks my heart to think people all around the world just have a house but not a home. A place of comfort, warmth, happiness and safety. A place where friends become family. A place where your heart is longing for while you are away. Home for me is the community I live in, the town, the province and at last, the amazing country called Canada. I thank God every day for his grace and protection, for giving me a loving family, wonderful teachers, freedom to believe in Christ and a place where I belong and call: “MY HOME.”
