Home-less

Today I heard the saddest news. A 74 year old homeless man died in Montréal, overnight, of hypothermia. My first thoughts were, did this man have a family, friends, did he have a job? He may not have had a bed to sleep in and a roof over his head. But did this man have a home? According to me, a home doesn’t only mean having a roof over your head, its much more than that. A home is the place you grow up in, a place you build memories, share experiences, a place where you laugh you cry, you learn, you love. A home represents who I am. The homeless man didn’t have warm shelter, he didn’t have 4 walls to keep him safe from the cold but no one knows if he had a home. Maybe this man lived in a special place where he had friends, family people who cared for him and loved him. Maybe this man was building memories, had a job and was happy. The term homeless shouldn’t exist because no one truly knows if he was home-less.
