What Home is For Me

For me home doesn’t have to be a place, it could be anywhere. It’s being with the people who you love and care about. Whether it’s the streets or an empty building, as long as I’m with my family I feel right at home. Arguments can’t always be ignored, sometimes we just have to face them and forgive. Forgiving can be difficult to do at times but when it’s done there’s a beautiful feeling that evolves inside of your body like how water moves its way through the sea. It makes you feel like you want to spend more time with that person, like how kids treasure their toys or playing with their friends. “To love is to forgive” a quote that explains more than a book could say about home. One of the most cherished things a family could want, it’s not money, it’s giving each others time to one another. Whether it’s going on a drive downtown or watching a movie together, it’s being there for you, it’s love. Your parents would give you medicine when you had a cold or a band-aid for falling on concrete at school, they’re taking care of you, they’re showing that they love you no matter what happens. Something that is always important for a family is to feel safe and protected wherever you may go. If I know one thing about family it’s that they would go over many limits not only walking with you but also would drive with you, walk with you, even go grocery shopping with you just to make you feel safe. But it shouldn’t only be you feeling safe, it’s also your job to make sure that that person feels protected and safe wherever you or they may go. The glue that keeps a family or a home together, is love; love is the true key to the heart of a home or a family. That’s what home means to me.
