Home to me is...
A home starts with a structure, but it takes more than just that it takes a family to live in the home and make memories in it. At home I feel happy, I feel open to being myself and talking about my feelings. At home, I am with the people I know, and I grow up with. When I am home, I have my brothers, my sister, and my parents who I can always talk to safely without being judged or made fun of. At home, I feel conferrable, and I can always come back no matter what I do or say.
When I am at home, I do not have to be scared that someone is going to hurt me or judge me. I know what is in my home and I know that there are no unpleasant surprises, the only surprises that are at home are gifts and good things. When I am at home we sit and talk about stuff, and we make jokes and laugh together as a family. When I am at home, I can sleep well because I know everyone around me and if I am having trouble with anything I know there is someone who will help me.
I think that for people who have never had a home or not for a long time a home would be a special place because if they go from in their car or off the street into a house that would be a tremendous change but a good change. Imagine all the fun things that people do in their houses like all the family meet-ups for the holidays and parties. Not all houses are perfect, and I think every dent or scratch in a house tells a story or brings back a memory. It does not matter how big or how small your house is it just matters that you and your family are safe and happy.
When I am at home, I feel safe because I know exactly what is around me, who is around me, and where I am. At home, I feel warm because I know that I am loved and I am actually warm, most of the time. I feel open because I know everyone around me, and I feel comfortable talking to them. When I am at my house, I feel comfortable because I know everything around me, and I grew up in my house, so I am familiar with my surroundings. Thank you for reading what home means to me.
