Belonging Somewhere

Sometimes some people ask “Where do I belong?”, and if they ever find that place, I would guess it might be their home. I can't guess why they belong there if they answer with that. However, I can guess that it might be because it can provide things for a human's basic needs. Like shelter, water, entertainment, a place to rest, etc. However, I think I belong to my home because of these basic and not so basic reasons. Long ago, my small family bought a sort of small house. It had been renovated according to my parents, and it was the perfect space for us to live in. So as the years passed by, it provided us with shelter, warmth throughout cold nights, bedrooms, a kitchen and plenty of storage. We had these orange fish, and they fitted in greatly with our living room aesthetic at the time. In my opinion, home is like the physical and mental term of a rest-stop you can go back to any time. However, the memories I have made in that rest-stop are what makes up the memories that I cherish forever. Like the many individuals I had a great time with when my family offered to care of them. Doing fun cooking projects with my mother. Seeing those beautiful sunsets in the summer, and celebrating most of the holidays with my family in that cozy house. Even the simple everyday things I still experience I'm grateful for, like waking up to my family still alive, having food to eat in my house, feeling comfortable, feeling safe, secure, and having most of my happiness. As I said before, home is like a rest-stop as you're going through life, and I think everyone who still has one should always remember that.
