House and Home

“House” and “home” you might say are very much the same. Well take a minute and read this poem and let me explain some of the three differences. Home is a place to go after a tough day at work and a rough ride home. As the doors swing open, arms wrap around each other and wet dog licks on your face. The smell of homemade soup in the air as we all sit down to share a meal. House is a place to rest and with an open window On the tip of the tree a flower waiting to bloom. With a building that’s square and everyone sees a room once full, not filled with memories. A kitchen once clanking with pots and pans now shaking from the cold autumn breeze. Now do you understand that house and home to me are both a colour, a song, a feeling, a scent and a place in your heart, not just a place to stay? So be grateful that you have a place to live and shelter from cold nights in winter or warm days in summer.
