What a Home Means to Me

My home. What a peaceful place, where I can run at my own pace. A House is where me and my family live, but inside is where the feeling of home is. Behind the roof and walls, there is a story. A story you can’t buy from a store, but a story that is no bore. Home is the feeling you create with the people you live with and your bond with them. Yes, it is true. I am very fond of my home. But the people Who created the feeling with me mean even more to me. It’s my family! We make a great team! When I play videogames with my brother, I feel connected to him. Although we may be a bother to each other at times, I know my love for him will always last. By the way, playing with him is a blast! When me and my mom watch funny movies and tv shows, we laugh and chuckle. I have to say, if we had seat belts on, they would completely unbuckle! When I see her smile, it makes me feel delighted! She’s always there for me, and when I'm at my lowest, she’s always the lighted candle leading me through my obstacles. When I’m with my dad, I learn so much! Whether it’s about cars, nature, or when he was a child, I realized that he had to face a lot of trials. His stories of his past experiences make me feel blessed and make me think more optimistically Because I know I’m living my childhood in a much easier way than he had to. Realistically, this makes me humbled because I know my tummy never had to grumble. My dad leads me to see life in a clear lens and he is my true superhero! When I’m with my betta fish Lucky Larry, I Love to talk to him! I can tell him anything and whatever I say to him, it’s like a secret closed with a lock! When I feed him, he usually sleeps so sometimes it’s hard to lead him to his food! We had another fish named Berry but sadly he passed away. Each and every day that passes by I think of both of my fishes. I love them both very much. A bunch! When you have a home, you are always loved. When ;’m at home, I feel free to be me Without a care in the world! Although my family may laugh at my silliness, I know it’s all in good fun. With our God up above, it is very important to have faith. When you have faith in your family and friends, it builds your bond with them and God. That’s what builds the feeling of home. When you feel safe, peaceful, joyful, happy, and like I said, loved, in your house with your family, you’ve found your home and you no longer have to roam. I thank Habitat for Humanity for giving me this opportunity to write this poem that will help donate money so houses can be built for families who don’t have one! I hope one day everyone in this world can have a house that they can call home. A home isn’t a want, it’s a need.
