Meaning of Home

Home is the place I can put worry away, Where no matter what happens love will always stay. Where I can laugh and play, Where I will always be welcome to rest and lay. The walls were painted with love, And the floors were mopped with happiness. Joy flooded itself through the windows with a shove, And it spread through the house like a mysterious illness. Each room is filled with a tsunami of memories, And I cannot imagine what it must be like for those families. Who don’t have the same luxury. Whose stomachs remain empty. Because of their patience, they deserve plenty. Their fingers freeze in the fierce cold, But they fight through it staying bold. Gripping their old blankets having only each other to hold. Habitat For Humanity will change all of that, With their pure hearts of gold. They will make sure you have a welcome doormat, And colourful, pretty clothes to fold. You’ll be happy until you’re rocking your chair growing old. We are all the same, short and tall. Spread the word, it’ll be the greatest thing anyone’s ever told. It’s okay if you’ve made mistakes, we are the same all in all. I have squishy couches where I can rest my feet, And a kitchen table with a seat for me. In the winters I have blankets and heat, And laughter fills my heart when I am at home, and I am truly happy. Because of my home, my happiness is complete, I have a bed with a soft sheet. I hope sleeping on a rough bed is something nobody has to go through. My home is a place where I know I will always be welcome with open arms.
