What Home Means to Me

A home is a place to make memories. My home is a place where I can go to have fun with friends and family. I have so many memories of family Christmases, birthday parties, and backyard BBQs. Sitting around our family dinner table each night, my family all share stories about their day. This is a great way for me to let my parents and sisters know how good or bad my day was. My parents and sisters offer advice and guidance to help me move on and make tomorrow a better day. My favorite time of year is Christmas. My mom lets me help put up the outside lights. Every year she reminds me as she is climbing the ladder to hang the lights that she is afraid of heights. So my favourite thing to do is shake the ladder. The dirty look she gives me always has me laughing. Our extended family and friends group always seem to end up at our house on summer Saturday nights. My Dad is the best BBQ cook. His specialty is ribs and brisket. Everyone stays late and all the grown-ups sit outside and tell stories while all us kids hang out and eat snacks and play video games. If I lost my home I would still have my memories but it wouldn’t be the same. A house just is not a home without the memories.
