Meaning of Home

Home, this word comes with great power. Home can be a person, a place, an object or a life. Home is the world and everything in it. For me, my home is built with family, joy, and a sense of security. I love my family and my family is home. Home is being with someone you love wholeheartedly, enjoying your time with them and being carefree. Wherever I am with my family, I am home. Home is me and my family cuddling up in the evening under a blanket by the fire watching a movie. The great foundation of my home that keeps everything stable is family. Home is playing with my sister on frigid winter mornings, laughing while building a snowman. Home is walking inside, as frozen as a popsicle and finding a cup of hot cocoa waiting for me in the kitchen. Home is playing soccer games on summer evenings with my friends and team. When I head outside in the afternoon practicing shooting on my basketball net, when I am doing what I love, I am home. I realize that I am very lucky to have a place to stay through the heat of summer, the cold of winter and the rain of spring. I am privileged enough to have no worries about these things. Sitting in my room surrounded by walls and a roof in cool air conditioning on a warm summer day reading feels like home. Home is being as emotionally and physically safe as you can be. I wish for everyone to have a safe haven that they deserve, but the world is not perfect. Habitat for Humanity is creating a change for the better by helping others become financially stable, and comfortable, which allows them to finally find their own meaning of home.
