I Am From
I am from socks littered around my house.
From old, scratched hardwood floors and a general lack of scissors, tape, and literally everything the moment you need it.
I am from carpeted stairs and the smell of my favorite bear.
I am from the cottony feel of my comforter and the howling wind outside my window that annoyingly keeps me up at night.
I am from my gigantic family tree and massive gatherings.
From the decaying street outside my front door “Elbows off the table”, and my childhood dog who we all loved so much.
I am from “JENNA ALERT!” and “All's well that ends well”.
I am from the happy birthday song, Whitegates Park, and all the memories I made there.
I am from my dad's stories from when he was a kid and his loving smile.
But most importantly I am from the stairs my ancestors built for me to climb.
