What is Home?

What Is Home? Did you know that 17.8 percent of renters pay more than half their income on shelter? Because the cost of living is so high, many hard working families have to choose between paying rent and paying for many other expenses such as food, childcare and different kinds of bills. (Habitat for Humanity, 2021) To me, home is family, comfortable, and confidence. Family is people who have been living in my household who love me. My mom has always lived with me since I was born. I have always felt loved when my mom is around. Everyday after school when she picks me up I always feel so happy and loved. Only 58% of kids in Canada live with their family because they might live with their friends, orphanage or adoption center. Comfortable is when you can trust your house not to break or fall down. I do not feel like my house is going to collapse or break down because I have lived there since I was born and it has never collapsed or broke down. It’s very sad that 1 in 10 Canadian households do not have a safe, decent, affordable place to call home. Confidence at home is basically feeling good about your home. I feel really cool about my house because I have always felt good about it. My home doesn't make me wanna move away. 95% of children feel good about their house. Home is not just a building, home is where family is, comfortabless, and confidence. By reading this essay I hope that you know what home means to me, and maybe you.
