The Meaning of Home

A home is more than just a plot layered with bricks as walls, a home is a place that you feel safe, secure, and comfortable. I’ve lived in houses before but I’d never call them my home. Water dripping from the ceiling, holes in the walls, doors that don’t lock properly, I didn’t always feel safe inside it. My home however makes me feel secure and safe. It’s a place where all my problems fade away, it’s a place where I can have my privacy and enjoy myself. When you think of home, you may think of the actual definition, a place where one lives. But when I speak of home you need to think about the philosophical definition. I wouldn’t consider home a place where you live, it’s more like a feeling of being with the ones you love, and feeling security. I know when I’m at home because my family’s all there, my dogs are there, it’s just where I spend most of my time. It’s a place where I can just relax. My home is where I feel secure and safe of course, but my home doesn’t have anything crazy like a movie theater or a swimming pool. My home is just a regular house: 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a basement. Though the house itself isn’t what makes my home so amazing, it’s the people and the memories tied around it. My home is where my family and pets live, it’s where me and my friends hangout, it’s where I make memories with the ones I love. My house may not be the best, but the people, the pets, my stuff, is what makes it so amazing and why I call it my home.
