Turn Me Into a Home

I once built a house, and turned into a home. My empty halls where no one would roam. The empty rooms, the walls with no colour Made me, the house seem a bit duller. I watched as the kids would go into their home. The place they would go to feel less alone. I dreamed of becoming a home in this way And that never happened until this one day. The walls filled with colour, the hallways not quiet. Even the rooms became a big riot. The little girl's artwork filled up the fridge. As the little boy built his toy cars, a big bridge. As soon as you walk through the doors into me. Love and comfort is all you will see. There may be some bumps along the way But everyone deserves a safe place to stay. And that is the reason I wrote this poem. Walking in “A” house has a different meaning than walking into YOUR home. And I believe that every person, young or old deserves to walk into a place that makes them feel safe.
