My Home

I love my house, the big building that shelters me, the structure that people built for people to live in, and the house that many people have lived in before me. But what makes this structure my home is my family, the activities we do together, and the pleasures I find within. My meaning of home is not only where my family sleeps and cuddles. It’s where we go on boat rides and watch movies. It’s where we have arguments, but in the end we always forgive each other because we are a family. When my little sister and I get home we eat delicious food and then we have fun. Home is wherever my family is. One of my favourite activities to do with my family is camping. When I sleep closely with my family and when I swim in crystal clear water of a lake I am home. Singing with friends and family by the campfire and toasting marshmallows is also home. Being outside or camping makes me feel at home. When I’m doing the things I like I feel at home. I love to draw, read and write books. When I draw I can make anything I want. While reading I get to see things that wouldn’t be there in the real world. When I write books I get to make the whole world. If I am doing one of my favourite activities I am home. Even though all of these people and activities make me feel home, the security of a building lets you create a home. When people are struggling to get by it becomes difficult to enjoy the small things that can make one feel at home. Habitat for Humanity helps people build houses, and in turn, create their own sense of home.
