The Meaning of Home
Home is not just a bed, or a shelter. Home is about the memories you share, your family and the freedom you have with them. Home is a beautiful place.
Memories are times you share with others. Memories are the trips to New York, when you are looking at the advertisements on the big screens while holding your mom’s warm hand that makes you feel safe. Memories are the birthday parties you go to, and the goofy dances you do with your best friend. Memories are the camping trips you go on with all of your relatives, the mornings you wake up, with the smell of eggs and the smiles on your cousins’ faces. Memories are what home is all about.
Family is a friendship of a lifetime. Home is about family movie nights, sitting on the couch beside your mom all warm and cozy under a blanket while staring at a big and bright screen. Family is about the slumber parties in Mom and Dad’ s room, when you are jumping up and down on the bed while your parents are under the blankets laughing along. Family doesn’t need to be relatives, it can be anyone that is special to you.
Home is a place where you can act, speak, and be yourself, knowing that you are loved and supported. Freedom is somewhere without limits for your imagination . Freedom is a place where you can be your best self without fear of people judging you. Home is, and always will be, freedom.
Home means memories, family and freedom. Habitat for Humanity is giving other people the chance to know what home really is and I think that is amazing, because everyone deserves to create their own sense of home.
