Home is Everything That It Is Not

Home is Everything It is Not By: Liam Andrews Home is everything that it is not. It is not a place where you should feel unsafe, or out of place. A real home is never a cold bus shelter, sleeping in a sleeping bag, belongings in a garbage bag. Home is a feeling as much as it is a building. Home is not a place to be scared when it gets dark. A house has walls, a roof over your head, a door that locks and your own bed. Home is not going to a neighbors house, and asking to stay the night. If I had to ask that favor every night, it would make me sad. You can feel proud when you have your own shelter. When I think of home, it’s not a place to be left out. You can paint your room any color you like, and find special places for your teddy’s and possessions. You can tell friends where you live, and your house will be on a map. Best of all when you have a home it naturally gets filled with things and people you love. Home is not cold, lonely, or uncaring. It is warm and loving. It’s not what it looks like, it’s how it feels. You can cook supper there for someone to put a smile on their face. Home is where family are not just relatives. Home is a place to make memories, like celebrating your birthday. I make all of my best memories at home. A home is more than walls, roof, windows and doors. It is not cold and unsafe. Home is a feeling, when your friends and family are near. My home is the best place to be, and I wish everyone could have one like me.
