Meaning of Home

Have you ever gone to bed starving? Have you ever had to sleep outside? Well that is a normal day of a homeless person’s life. Approximately 235,000 people are homeless in Canada. That’s the same size as Kitchener, Ontario! In my home I have a roof over my head. I have breakfast every morning. I can go home and play on my Ripstik or I could play video games. People in Canada are homeless for many reasons such as poverty. Poverty is when people cannot afford housing and have little income. Unemployment is also a reason for homelessness. It is when someone does not have a job or loses their job. Rising rent costs have made it more difficult for people to afford to live. Domestic abuse and legal problems are also factors for homelessness. On the coldest nights of winter we will be sitting in our houses while homeless people will be fighting for their lives. The meaning of home helps us all help the fight against the homeless. Homeless people get money for every entry you put in. You can help to stop the fight of homelessness.
