Home is More than a Place
Home is More than a Place
A home can mean many, many things but the most important things in my home are not things at all. A home is a feeling, where I feel happy and calm, where I feel loved and cared about, and where my family and the people that I love and care about are.
Firstly, I feel at home when I am calm, feel happy, and at peace with the world. I don’t have to live in a big house or have lots of cool things to feel this way. All I need is a place, pet, or person that makes me feel joyful and calm. Animals and people can help me if it is someone or a place or animal that makes me feel comfortable. Like when I am sad or angry I go to my mom and that always makes me feel at home.
Secondly, when I am somewhere I call home I always feel loved and cared about. If I do not feel this way when I am at my home then I believe it is just a place. I know I feel cared about and loved when I am with people that are always there for me and I know I can count on them when I need it. I also know I am loved when the people I love help me when I am sad or mad and they are always there for me.
Finally I know I am at home when I am with the people I love and care about, not when I am at a place or with a bunch of fancy expensive things. I know personally that I don’t need stuff or even an actual house to say I am at home. A place that someone calls home but is not happy there is just a place not a home. As I have said, a home is more than a place, a home is family.
