The Meaning of Home

To me home is a place where my family lives Where memories start And I grew a big heart. It’s not what I had or what I want. It’s the people I was with and that’s not a myth. It’s when I come home, and I just let go. When my worries melt away and my fears never stay. Where my furry friend fetches the ball, or welcomes me home with his tail whirling “swish swish” like a fan. Where I took my first steps, said my first words. Now I can talk for centuries because home is a place where I am always heard. My mom, dad, brother, and dog are always there for me day and night long. It’s where I faced challenges overcame them too. Where I met, made, and found new friends who are always supporting me. My home is a place where I feel very safe. It’s my treasure and it’s my favorite place to be. So those are the things that make my house a home. I know that some may not feel the same and sometimes It’s hard to know that some don’t have a home because mine means a lot to me. That is why I’m writing this poem to help some families in need.
