The Building Called Home

Home is a speciaI place. For me, it is like a happy, crazy circus. Five people live in my home. There’s me, my two younger brothers, my mum and my dad. Sometimes we are all as quiet as mice, but usually we are as loud as dinosaurs! There is some arguing and fighting, but mostly lots of laughing and playing noises. I feel lucky to live in my home with my family. Not everyone has this experience. A house is not always a home. A house is just a building and a place to live, but it does not mean anything. A home on the other hand means everything. It’s not just any home. It is a place that is as special as the most valuable gem. It is a place where you feel safe and in a house you don’t feel comfortable. That means it’s scary and might not be secure. A home has a place to sleep safely and keep your toys. It is where your family and friends are. It is where you make memories. We’re all staying home right now because of covid. It’s really boring. But not everyone has a safe home. The house may be falling apart or you may live with someone who hurts you. During covid this is even worse. If you don’t have a safe home you are bored and scared. You would feel like you want to run away but you can’t because of covid. I worry about those people, especially kids. It is better to be bored than scared. Everyone deserves a home. We all need a spot where we belong. Homes can come in different shapes or sizes. A home doesn’t have to be as big as a mansion. It can be a small apartment or a community home for lots of people. Anyone can live in a home, like big groups, families or people living by themselves. We need to make changes so that houses become homes. We need to give poor people money so that they can afford a home. We need to build different kinds of homes so that more people can live in them. This will help people feel more comfortable because they will feel safer and happier if they have a place to call home. I am thankful for my home. It is a place where me, my friends and my family can have fun. We need to think about people who don’t have a home. A house keeps you dry, warm and that is all. But a home also keeps you happy and safe. Everyone deserves a home and not a house.
