A Home Is

You may have a house, but do you have a home? It’s estimated that more than 100 million children around the world do not have a place to call home. A house is a building. Tall, sturdy, and stiff. A home is different. Home is happiness, like playing and running around your backyard, blowing bubbles maybe, or swinging on a swing. Cracking up at a funny joke and making wholesome memories. Listening to music, singing, dancing, and playing. Sometimes happiness can come in calmer ways like contentment or peacefulness. Going up to your window and watching pretty birds flutter by, breathing deeply, yoga, reading a story book, and writing about how you feel. A home is also comfortable, maybe sitting by the chimney, feeling the warmth of the crackling fire, staying in your pajamas on weekends, lying down on your soft bed, and staying up all night watching movies! A home has loved ones. The people you care about you will protect you and be there for you. They won’t judge you, and your animal friends will help you when you’re sad. In conclusion, a home is a place that is way different than a house in terms of meanings. Everyone deserves a house to go to, but also a home. By: Sophia
