My Meaning of Home

People think of home as just a place to live in. Some people think of it as a building or a house. They are wrong. People have different opinions about what homes are. But a house is a structure. not a home. A home is a place to live. But I think there are certain things to make up a home also. A home is a place that keeps us alive. A home should make us feel loved, safe, warm, good and comfortable. We don't really think about this often but there are some people that don’t have a home or a house. But when we look at pictures or think about those people in need we feel lucky and relieved that we are not those people. We also feel sad, scared, and sorry for those people. I think a home can be anything. A place outside, a place we rent. Even a slum. As long as we feel safe and comfortable there. If we feel scared, not safe or not feel comfortable that's no place to call home. A home should be a place filled with happiness, joy, family and friends and most things that make us happy! No matter how it looks people can be happy even if they have a home that's ugly and poor. As long as it's surrounded by people you love and things that make you happy. Everyone deserves a home. Even people in need. A home is also a place with shelter. That is part of the reason a home should make you feel safe. I think the most important thing about having a home is the memories. (The good ones). A home is a place where you make lots of memories with your family. Even if there are bad things that happen. I think the saying home sweet home means a home that is safe, comfortable and many of the things I said before. I think homes are important to have. I think homes are nice to have because they are full of people we love and full of great memories and things to do. I'm happy I have a home even if my siblings annoy me, or my mom tells me to clean my room and I don't want to. I feel very lucky and happy to have a home, and so should you. If we feel comfortable and safe at the place we live in then we call it a home. But I think if we don't feel safe there. We just call it a place to live. But that's my opinion. I never noticed but whenever I think about home I feel safe. Homes are supposed to protect us. Like when there is a big snowstorm, lightning or even a hurricane if your home is strong enough. A home is a place to spend time with friends and family. The addresses or places we live in might change. You may live somewhere different with new people and new schools. You may feel nervous. You may not feel comfortable at first in your new home. But things might change if you give it time. I think sometimes if we have friends in the place we live and people that care about us then your place will feel more like home. I am very lucky to have a home. Even if you live in a mansion or a small apartment, the feeling of being safe at home is the same.
