What Home Means to ME

Home is where I live, laugh and love. Where a little black girl like me, can be safe under a roof with no harm, in my Mother's arms. Home is to give love and to receive love from my sister. It is togetherness and love. It’s where I learned to stand up and speak out and teach others to do the same. My family is a foundation of three, anchored in my mother’s black woman magic, cultivating that same magic within me. Where I know that I have a place to go for freedom and peace. I feel inside these walls the comfort and safety away from the harm of hateful words and actions. As a black girl I AM FREE.
