What a home means to me

Introduction When I think about the word HOME lots of feelings come into my mind. For the last 2 years everyone has spent a lot more of their time at home because of COVID 19. We have had to isolate at home and learn from home a lot over the past 2 years. Even though being at home so much has been hard at times, I think about people who don't have a home to go to or whose home is not one that makes them feel safe, warm and happy. Safe At home, I feel safe. I feel like when I’m at home I can be myself. I feel accepted by people in my family and I know that my mom and dad would always protect me. I know that no matter what my family loves me and I can talk to them about anything. We can lock our doors at night and feel protected when we fall asleep at night. I also know that not everyone is fortunate to feel safe in their home and I am thankful to have a home that is safe. Warm and Cozy My home is warm and cozy. Even the mat at our front door says “come in and cozy up”! I love to snuggle up and read a book in my bed or watch a movie with my family under warm blankets. My home makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. I feel sad when I think about people who don’t have a warm, dry place to live, and I know that I am fortunate to have these things. Fun and Memories My home is also super fun. I have toys and games and activities and also my two brothers. We love to play board games, ball hockey, video games, and driveway hockey. We makeup games and sometimes we can have our friends over to play. We gather at our home with our friends and our family and cousins and that's where I have made my favourite memories. I know what home means is different for everyone. I am grateful to have a home where I can feel safe and protected where I am cozy and comfortable and where I can have fun and make memories with the people I love. I wish that everyone can feel this way about their home.
