Why Home Shines for Me
My home is a beacon of love, and it always shines for me
My home is a halo of hope, and that’s why it matters to me
My home is where my family is, and that’s where my heart stays
My refuge is grand, but that’s not why it is to praise
Although another family will live in it, in its future days
That won’t make me feel less grateful about it in any way
Because home is not only my domain, it’s where my life lays
It’s where memories are found and new ones are made
My home is where my family lives, and that is my domain
My home is where I find peace and joy shelters my pain
But for those who lack family, those who strive alone
I want you to know that your future isn’t set in stone
There is still a love for family left, a chance to restart
You have community, and that makes a family’s heart
By writing this poem, the hope of home I have made
Let’s work together to help those in need of aid
My home gives me a shining star, shining in the void of grey
And it is my hope that those without my luck can see it through their dismay
My home is both the roof that shelters from the storm
And the family that gathers within that keeps me warm
A home is where all belong, but a home is not offered to everyone
For all of those who have suffered, this crisis is not done
But this poem is a step, on the trail to equal destiny
And tells you why my home shines for me
