Good days are coming
"Good days are coming," Mom says. I don't believe her because we haven't had a house in years. Well at least that's what I’ve heard. I overheard Mom and Dad talking about getting a new home because habitat for humanity was going to build us a home and of course I was excited. But what I thought to myself was “is this true?” You know the saying, curiosity disappointed the child”… Oh wait I made that one up, but I mean it still works. I mean when I get curious about something it all gets ruined, and then I turn from excited to disappointed and I have never been so... how do I say it? Not excited in my life, because I know that it will go wrong and then I will get disappointed again. I have this diary which I found on the ground and that's not really exciting. Anyway my Mom and Dad are excited so I guess I will be too, but I bet this time they'll be the ones getting disappointed. But as always, Mom says, "a house is a structure and a home is where families get together as they sleep in their warm beds with the fire going downstairs." Some people don't have homes and we need to be grateful for what we have. The next few months they got a home, but the true definition of home is a place where you feel safe and secure. Home is a place where you should not be scared, home is a place where you should feel welcome. Home is a place where you should feel loved. Home feels different to everyone.
