The Comfort of Home

A house is the place in which you stay, But a home is where all your pain goes away, A home is a feeling of safety and love, Like a hug that is as tight as a glove, A home is more than just some wood and steel, It’s a place to sit down to a hearty meal, A home is where you make mistakes and learn, The place where your heart will always return, I have a home with my family, I have memories that are truly happy, But I sometimes take my home for granted, I forget that a home is what others have always wanted, And some people´s home is a sidewalk or street, A worn down boot atop their cold feet, A house is something only in their dreams, They can only afford clothes with rips in their seams, So we raise money and take a stand, Making a change together, hand in hand, For those who may not be that blessed, We give them a warm place to rest, An open door waits for a family in need, A fireplace to curl up by and read, A safe home for someone to stay, Is just one essay or poem away.
