Where My Heart Can Grow

One day I was walking home with my brother, And I was puzzled like no other. I was confused by something my teacher said, And I felt the earth spinning but maybe it was my head. She asked what makes a home a home, At that moment I thought I had known. But the more I think about it the more I know, That a home is where my heart can grow. A roof over my head, and a bed that is warm, Is great for keeping out a cold winter storm. But it’s the people inside that are the main part, That can protect me and grow my heart. For me when a house has just been built, You need the love to really finish the quilt. Warmth, care and coziness is really the art, That helps me through and grows my heart. I walked back to school with my head held high, And felt confident after the night went by. All of the thoughts I knew right from the start, Was that a home is where I can grow my heart.
