Home Sweet Home

Home is necessary, home is sweet, Home is a place nowhere else can compete. It’s where your loved ones catch you when you fall, To you it would be perfection, all in all. In my home, I can be me, I can play the piano or climb a tree. I read books for hours, And eat pancakes piled up in towers. I FaceTime with my friends, And play games with family over the weekends. Nintendo games, I’ll always play, Being in my castle brightens up my day. I feel safe in my happy home, It is my personal dome. The colours are warm and bright, With Christmas lights that shine in the night. In the kitchen, my grandparents prepare, Saucy noodles with sweet smells that fill the air. We sit together to share delicious meals, Our tasty food, my dog always steals. I hear my dog’s nails clicking on the floor, And him running towards me when I come through the door. Seeing his white, fluffy figure makes me glad, I love our cuddles, especially when I’m sad. My home has lots of comfortable spaces, Where my mind drifts to different places. I thought home was for everyone, like water and air, But recently I learned for some it’s not fair. Everyone should have a home, It’s sad that some must roam. Some families aren’t safe and warm, And need to run from the storm. We should give others some light, It’s hard to be in the shadows at night. We all need a decent place to stay, Where we can see light to brighten the way. I am very thankful to have a loving home, To help others without a place, I write this poem. Home isn’t just a place built of concrete, It’s what makes our lives complete.
