Home for humanity

“We're moving into the city” Papa explains. “It will be much better there” Mama adds. I’m not sure about that but I nodded my head anyway. I can tell my little brother; Zander isn’t fond of the change either. After dinner Mama tells Zander a goodnight story. I go to bed straight away. I know tomorrow will be busy. I have trouble falling asleep for Zander is snoring again. I hope I don’t have to get up to early. When I woke up the movers were already here. I shove the last of my belongings into a box. The rest of the boxes are going into the moving van. Mama gave me a piece of toast and told me to get into the car. We drove away from my house for the last time. I look at our new apartment and notice it looks incredibly old. When we go into our new apartment it is quite small. It only has two bedrooms so I must share a room with Zander. I hope I can get some earplugs. We each have a bed on each side of the room. I just didn’t feel at home. Apartments don’t have backyards, like my backyard at home. Or my own bedroom (I really wish I had my own bedroom.) I wish we had a garage then we wouldn't have to park on the street. I guess living here will take some time to get used to it. I think I won't be able to call this home for a bit. A home is where you can feel comfortable and safe. A place where you can unite with loved ones. This place isn’t my home, my old house is. Eventually I think I can call this my home.
