The Meaning of Home

Home is home. The place where my heart is. From the outside, home might just look like a building. To make this solid structure a home, we have to fill it with everything we love dearest: love, family and memories. We have to live in it and make the house special to us. Home is a place where I can embrace myself and be however I want. I can cry, laugh, be mad and let my emotions overflow. At home, I feel free and safe, as if I’m a part of my house, part of the warm grey walls that seem to wiggle with joy and love. A few years ago, I wanted to stay at my friend’s house forever. But at the end of the day, no matter how tired of home I am, it would be the place I feel comfortable kicking my shoes off and lying on the couch. It’s where I want to go when everything seems chaotic, and where I can start a new day. Home is where we create memories with our family and community. It’s a place that I can talk on about for hours, reviewing all the fun moments we had in it. It reminds me that everyone has a special place in this world, and that might just be home. When most of us have one, a surprising amount of people don’t have a proper house, not to mention a home. Everyone deserves a home. Providing those in need with a small house can mean very much, even if it’s not necessarily home to them. We have enough resources to help those in need. A little act of kindness would not hurt, instead will make you feel better. Home is the place where everyone’s heart is, in everyone’s heart.
