Home
A home to me is a warm, comfortable and safe haven. A place for milestones. That place your parents bring you home as a newborn baby. Where your mom wakes at 3 a.m to give you a bottle while rocking you back to sleep. It’s where I run to my parents bed every morning for snuggles and tickles. A place where I am sent to my room as a punishment. It is where you take your first steps, and your first fall. A home is also a place where some take their last breath.
It is a place where your heart should feel happy and full. A place that I can enjoy my family and friends, play with my toys, have a warm meal, do my homework and relax. A home is a place where memories are made. When I lay in my bed at night, I feel grateful for everything I have in life and what my home provides.
A home allows you to be yourself, act silly, have privacy and feel secure. I have a soft spot for my home. It is a feeling of relief when I pull into our driveway, a feeling of contentment when I open the door, a feeling of comfort when I change into my pajamas, a feeling of cheer when I play with my brother and feeling fortunate as my mom places a warm meal on the table for me.
My home allows me to feel a sense of belonging and confidence. A place where I can be exactly who I am without any judgement. My house is that place I can honestly call my home and protects me from the world when it gets cruel and tough. My home kept me safe during a pandemic and I am so thankful for that. I hug the walls of my home to show appreciation for the safety and comfort it provides.
The size of a house doesn't make it a home. A home is who lives under the roof with you and what pictures you hang on the wall. It is your own personal space. A wall you can cry on. I can never imagine my home to be anything but what it is and where it is. Home truly is where the heart is! I love my home!
