What Home Means to Me

Home is my safe place, a place where I can be myself, have fun and just goof off. Home is also a place to be honest, speak my mind and learn from my mistakes. When I am at home, I feel loved and appreciated and know that I can always count on the people in my home to be good listeners. But my home wasn't always like that. My home first started out as just a house, until my family and I moved in. Before we moved in, our home was just a structure - and then we came along. When my family and I moved in our house, it then had a heart, a personality and a soul. My family and I are what make my house a home. Without us, our house wouldn’t be home. We are why home is home. The reason our home feels safe and secure is because of us. The reason our home is a place to be yourself and be free is because we made it that way. However our home isn’t just a home - it is also our barrier from the outside world. Whenever I need a break from the real world, home is where I can hide. Hide myself physically and emotionally. Home is our safe spot and always will be.
