The Meaning of Home

When you think of the word home, what comes to your mind? Do you think about a house with a white picket fence? The word home is actually very different from the word house. Having a home is special for many different reasons. It doesn’t matter if your home is small or if it is big. It doesn’t matter if it’s filled with many things, or only a few. What matters the most is the people you share your home with. A home means being together with your family. It is where you get the most hugs and where you hear the most laughter. When you are with your family at home, you feel safe because that is your special place to just be yourself. A home is also a place where you make memories. It is a place where you play, create, and learn. Memories can be made by the tiniest things like a simple game or a family tradition. The thing with memories though is that they can last forever and they make your heart smile. A home is a place where memories are made. A home is love. It is the place where your family began, and where you spend the most time. It can get messy and loud, or be quiet and clean. It makes you know where you belong and who you belong with. No matter where your home is, the memories you have there will always be in your heart. So, what does the word home mean to you? Many different adjectives could come to mind for different people. A home is not the house that you live in. It is not the location either. A home is the feeling of belonging and being together with your family. A home is love.
