Home is Not Just a Word

Homes come in all shapes and sizes. For some it's a house or two while for others it's a basement or an apartment. And for some, it's a park bench. When I first walk into my house, I smell the sweet lemon candle my mom burns, and I can hear the sports channel on the T.V. I consider myself more than lucky because when I walk through the front door I am never happier. I could never wish for a better experience. Home is the place I eat around the table with my family. Eating my mom's pasta and cookies afterwards with my sister and my dad. My puppy will be roaming around our feet eating any crumbs we drop. When I think of home, I think of the gratitude I have for my family. I think of a place where I rest my head at night. And most importantly, I think of love. I could not imagine having to lose that because from the smell of the lemon candle to the joy my home brings to me, I don't know what I would do without my home. And while I write this story, I realize that home is more than just walls and a roof. Home is family, love, memories and traditions. It's all of the home cooked meals, those movie nights with family but, most importantly, it is where I learn new things and get to be me! So what I'm trying to say is that home means a lot to me and everyone deserves a home no matter what! Home is most definitely not just a word.
