The Story of Home

Once, there was an empty lot There was nothing on that slot It was big and wide With no floors or ceilings, not even sides The land was very long and bumpy And it looked kind of grumpy The neighbors saw and saw In silence they watched in aw One day, people came They started talking about a frame More and more the people came. Then the land was theirs under their name. First, came the tractors with their big claws They kept working, there was no pause The tractors made the land smooth and flat After, they gave it a nice pat They built the walls, the wood, the bones That held up the entire home Then the drywall protecting the bones Soon the electric and plumping came on its own They painted and decorated the house Made sure there were no mouse Put the shingles on the roof Made the roof leaky-proof The house was missing something Was it the plumbing? No it was the heart. A family moved in which was a start. Filling it with joy now there were hearts Now it was a home with all it’s parts That’s the wonderful story of home But guess what? Lots of us can’t have our own So we raise money by doing this So people don’t feel down in the pits Thank you all for reading my poem I’ll stop now so you can start goin’
