What does home really mean to me?
What does home really mean to me? Home has a different meaning for everyone. You may have a big or small home but that is your shelter. How do you explain the meaning of home to people who don't have a shelter? To me a home means a place where I am appreciated for the person that I am and for everyone that comes to my home also feels appreciated for who they are. Most importantly, to me a home is built with the bond of a family, where you feel connected, loved and secured. Home is where we have good times with family, friends, pets and enjoy good home cooked meals. Home is where we make the best memories.
A house is a place with a roof, but a home is built with the bond of a family. It is where you are respected, loved and cared for no matter who you are. In my house because of COVID-19 my family and I, are bonding more than ever by doing fun activities more than we used to. I am grateful, thankful and blessed to have a home.
Home to me also means having good home cooked meals every day. My mom works in Downtown Toronto and sees homeless people every day. I have always been taught not to waste my food as there are people in this world that are living in poverty. Did you know that ‘there are 805 million people in the world that do not have enough food to eat? 300 million are children”.
Home is where you create memories. Home is where we live, laugh and share each other's pain. I remember one night before going to bed my nose was bleeding a lot and my mom started panicking and crying. I knew she felt my pain. She took care of me and made me feel better.
Everyone deserves a home. My home makes my life complete. What does home mean to you? There is a famous Irish blessing that I pray for you all “may your troubles be less, your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door”.
