What Home means to me

At first, a house and a home seem to be synonyms but are they really? Some people do not know the difference between a house and a home, and they use these terms interchangeably. According to the dictionary, a house is a building for human habitation, especially one that is lived in by a family or small group of people, while a home is described as the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. If you read the paragraph above, even the definitions seem similar. However, if you read closely, you will realize that a house is simply an object and a home is a place where somebody lives. A home has an emotional aspect to it, a house simply refers to the physical aspects of a building where one lives. Houses are built using concrete wood bricks and other materials. It starts like building any other house, you create foundation for the house, you build framing to set the walls in, you add the water piping and electricity, you install insulation and complete the dry wall and other stuff, finish the interior trim and the walkway and driveway, add the hard flooring countertops and complete exterior grading, add a bathroom and finish the mechanical trims, install some furniture like doors and mirrors and finish the flooring and the exterior landscaping, and then the final walk-through. On the other hand, homes are built not with raw materials but with emotions like love and a sense of belonging, as well as objects that make the house feel like a home. Objects like furniture, paintings, toys and other decorations. For me, this is what home means.
